This article discusses the earlier interpretations of the word ˜o-rii-i' occurring in the aphorisms of Tolakappiyam. Author concludes, based on its meaning in music related context in Tolakappiyam, that this word gives recognition to absorbing words from foreign languages into Tamizh. Although dealing with language the article is not unrelated to music, since there is at present a move on to coin Tamizh equivalents for musical terms of other languages. |
